- Lead the design and build-out of our foundational use cases leveraging Kafka
- Contribute to HappyCo’s journey towards an Event Driven Architecture
- Work closely with domain experts to discover and define event schemas
- Contribute to the implementation of HappyCo’s broader data strategy
- Collaborate with business and product teams to evolve solutions as business processes and product needs change
- Collaborate with senior engineering staff in the development of proof of concepts of through through to production
- Identify ways to improve data reliability, efficiency and quality
- 3+ years working with Kafka
- 5+ years working in Software Engineering
- Experience in evaluating tools and technologies and aligning recommendations to strategic drivers
- Familiarity with event driven architectural approaches
- Familiarity with GCP, GoLang, gRPC
- Experience with modern cloud based data solutions (e.g. Snowflake, Databricks)
- Experience configuring and deploying managed Kafka solutions (e.g. in AWS or GCP)

The Position:
The Senior Kafka Engineer will be a key contributor to the modernisation of HappyCo’s technology stack. We are seeking someone who can help advance us along our technology roadmap, leveraging their prior experience and expertise. This will initially occur via proof of concepts, rapid iteration and validation by stakeholders.
As HappyCo is entering a growth phase, there is ample opportunity for progression (for the right person) as our teams grow.
